Profile: Yes, Beethoven’s “Sonate au Clair de Lune” was playing in the background when I made this piece. Those 3 notes in ostinato simultaneously haunt and soothe. The image that emerges from the shimmering facets in the stone and the pale color is “ipomoea alba” or moon flower on the vine in nighttime bloom, meeting the twilight and glimmering from overnight dewdrops, closing quietly as the sun rises.
